The post that I’ve included below was originally posted here, which I felt I should pimp here because, well, why not? It’s all straight source after the blocking below. Oh, and the piece at it’s original location was longer and way prettier, just in case you were wondering.

The Playstation 3 Problem

Let me start this off by openly stating that, unfortunately, none of us here at the Geek own a Playstation 3. That being said, we’re not secretly Nintendo/Microsoft/N-Gage fanboys, we’re just waiting for a compelling reason to drop the entire bankroll. We’re no fools though; if we’re going to buy a Playstation 3, we’d want the real deal — full backwards compatibility (aka: the ability to play ALL of our favorite Playstation 2 games). Savvy geeks reading this post may be loudly exclaiming, “Then you’ll want the 60gb version, but that doesn’t exist anymore!” And we know this.

We set out to find out the answers to two primary questions:

  1. What would GameStop do if I purchased a used 60gb Playstation 3 with a warranty and it broke?
  2. What would GameStop do if I purchased a new 60gb Playstation 3 with a warranty and it broke?
